The Northwest corner of Woodburn Ave. and William Howard Taft Rd. is about to get a cheery upgrade!
The East Walnut Hills Assembly Board plans to use grant funds recently received from the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. Foundation to create a mural on the concrete wall across from the new Woodbum Exchange.
The wall is owned by the City of Cincinnati. A Board member is taking the lead on securing permission from the City for the mural, including applying to the Department of Transportation, the Planning Commission and City Council for required variances and permissions for the project.
Once this community project is ready to move forward, a steering committee will be formed, there will be an open call for artists to submit portfolios, and community input will be solicited for general ideas for the theme of the mural. Several artists will be compensated to develop mural designs, which will be shared with the community for input.
A community paint day will be scheduled during the summer, when people will be able to meet the artists and paint a part of the mural. Once this project is completed, there will be a community-wide wrap-up party and celebration.
Stay tuned! This page will be updated as details of this project come together. Interested in getting involved? Please contact the East Walnut Hills Assembly.
